How does EVLTŪ Work?
The laser energy damages the vein walls, shrinking them and closing the faulty vein so that the blood cannot flow through it. This eliminates the varicose vein problem at it's source.

Is loss of this vein a problem?
No. After treatment, the blood in the faulty veins will be diverted to the many normal veins in the leg.

What are the complications of this procedure?
The only minimal complications experienced with EVLTŪ have been a small number of cases of transient numbness of the skin that passes quickly.

Am I at risk from the laser?
No. Just as a precaution against accidental firing of laser energy outside the body, you will be given a pair of special glasses to protect your eyes.

How successful is EVLTŪ ?
97% of first - time EVLTŪ treatments are successful!

Will EVLT be covered by my insurance company?
Yes.  All commercial insurances including Medicare and West Virginia Medicaid reimburse if it is medically necessary.

What if I already have had surgical stripping of my veins?
Many patients who have had surgery did not have their saphenous veins removed and this is why your varicosities have returned.  You would still be a candidate for EVLTŪ.

Am I too old to have a vein procedure performed?
The only definite contraindication to any of the non-surgical vein treatments is if one is non-ambulatory.

What is sclerotherapy?
The most common vein treatment performed in the world today.  The vein is injected with a chemical agent through a tiny needle.  This  is a            very effective, well tolerated, and safe procedure.
